The first animals that split from the mammal lineage would not have looked like a mammal. The only thing that distinguished them from other animals at the time was behind their eye socket, they had another hole in their head. So as that single ancestor starts to spec ate right into different a there's ice was a reptile direction and a mammal direction. What are those super early mammals like?
