Charles has spoken in the past about his intention to create a more quote unquote modern monarchy. He said that he sees his role as King as being defender of faith instead of the traditional defender of the faith, that being the established Anglican church. The oath he swore Saturday was still very Protestant in nature. But he also included non-Christian faith leaders in the ceremony and added a line to the oath about fostering an environment where people of all faiths and beliefs may live freely.
