Is set in england in 13 51, in the midst of the black death. Why did you pick that specific period to set the novel in? There ae a couple of different reasons. One is because my specialty is actually a fourteenth century i am currently working on a large scholarly tomb about fourteenth century manuscript illumination. So i knew i'd have huge visual resources. But i think the reason, more over, that the period really applied to us was that there was so much happening in the fourteenth century. It was a time of upheaval. And yet here we are in this moment, in a time of oast plague, a european war has very sadly broken out
