The Life of a POW Was Worthless Than a Fly

Kim Il-sung disposed of many comrades in arms who had led the struggle from Manchuria to unseat the Japanese, Japanese occupiers. After the war Kim Il-sung made it his first order of business to weed out foe from friend. And that same former POW wrote, the life of a POW was worth less than a fly. Every day we walked into the mines I shuttered with fear. Like a cow walking to the slaughterhouse I never knew if I would emerge alive.
