The Hippocratic Oath and the Ethics of the Hospital
The patient was able to hold a conversation and make his own decisions about finances, medication. The medical team were relying on me to try and convince this man to either stop his fluids and choose to die or find an appropriate nursing home. And he said, no, I want to stay on fluids. So look in the end, he ended up being in hospital for 372 days. We celebrated his birthday in hospital. It was really fun. He's just someone I'll never forget.
