If you go to 20 doctors and they all agree with each other, you don't know that they're right. I guess the widespread disagreement in philosophy makes me think that perhaps we shouldn't trust philosophers for answers to questions. But they are very good at pointing out flaws in other answers if that makes sense. And your eyes also, philosophers are very good critics, so they can always find problems with a view. That's one form of progress, if only negative progress.
