The Immorality of Killing Innocent People
The idea of double effect is the difference between foreseen consequences that are negative and then some negative consequence that you actually intend. For Truman to drop those bombs, actually killing people was an essential part of the plan to end the war. And that's what I think in Ascom's eyes makes it immoral.
