The story of Joseph and his brothers is the first real story of forgiveness. Can you find a counter example? It's a great question. I've looked around to see if surely there must be other examples, but there aren't. There are cases where deaths get forgiven or people let people off from something, but that transformational forgiveness appears to be Joseph.
