Heydger says that we think of these as being ontological in the traditional sense of being and not being. But he's introducing elements of the ethical already, which is what he's going to eventually be driving to. He wants to say that material needs and spiritual needs are really, they're equally basic, and they exist side by side with each other. Spiritual needs come right out of the solitude of being a material body. In this whole section ittheis with heydeger, whom for him really is the face of inevitability of death. Everyday life is a preoccupation with salvation through those day-to-day activities seeking our salvation.
