Rommel: A German Soldier in the First World War
In August 1914 he's mobilized with his infantry regiment and they march into France. He gets a very very strong reputation as a very bold and resourceful and determined commander. Rommel then spends the rest of the war well at least 1916 and 17 in that unit which gets expanded from being a battalion it becomes a regiment. The Caporetto Offensive in October 1917 against the Italians was led by Rommel who caused the equivalent of entire Italian division to surrender using only his handkerchief.
