Freud's Reaction Formations

Freud introduced the concepts of disgust and shame in 1905 to show that there is an inner limitation to infantile sexuality as well. He basically consists of an organic reaction against a pleasure that becomes unpleasureable, namely shame and disgust. I can't see how shame and disgust could be thought of as organic - it doesn't mean organic so it's obvious.
