The kingdom through what is called the Ingoniama Trust owns about 30% of the land in Krasulu-Natal. The king exercises his power by virtue of people's voluntary allegiance to him but he's expected to remain above the political fray. What the king says, it goes because that's where the identity is. That's where they belong. He operates within the framework of a republic with a constitution that confers equal rights on all the citizens of South Africa including his subjects.
