A subtitle of this book is the myth enormous is trauma, illness and healing in a toxic culture. How we evolved as creatures, as human beings, was in small band hunter-gatherer groups. Children had multiple parenting figures in their lives. We're living in a very unnatural situation now. Now what's the consequence? Children have a need to attach. Attachment means to be close to somebody for the purpose of taking care of them or to be taken care of by them. So children of this attachment need, they can't live without it. And when I talk about the influence of peers and children, I'm talking about more the toxicities of our culture.
