Introduction

This week's theme has been metaphors similes and language mutations. Since we started you've been noticing them popping up everywhere. They're so common it's hard to formulate more than a couple of sentences without running into one like a corpse on your early morning jog. Just one can really liven up your day, shock you out of your old routines or make you reconsider things you'd taken for granted. But if you find yourself encountering two, three or six in a row just randomly strewn about with no apparent connection between them, they end up dominating your experience. And there's another way that authors use metaphor: as a way of describing the writing process itself.
