The Rise of the Conservative Legal Movement
A lot of US political change relies a lot on supply-side changes, that is, in contrast to voters demanding certain policies and politicians responding to that. It actually being really important that political actors such as think tanks, and maybe professionals, supplying certain ideas or the competition in that landscape. The parties are pulled toward the median of voter demand by the fact that if they don't, then the other party will pick up those sort of bills left on the sidewalk and win elections.
