The concept of election denialism is probably as old as elections themselves. The closest kind of event to what we saw in 2020 was probably the 2000 election during the Bush versus Gore presidential election. Part of this is very much Trump backed. There is a specific what he calls the America First Secretary of State coalitions, but the Republican Party also obviously heavily invested in their candidates.
