Opeticia Wachelaca is a professor of architecture at the University of Miami. She moved to Opelaca, Florida, four years ago for work on an art project in her neighborhood. When she was nominated by Curved Young Gun Award winners and didn't get it, "I decided I got to go out on my own now" The award-winning artist has also worked with New York City's Museum of Modern Art.
