I can't even imagine how small the medical officers cabin might have been where, you know, crew members might have come to see you. I had a direct top-tharmoscope that occasionally worked and didn't have a blue light. The sick bay, if you stood in the middle with your arms out, like you were doing a star jump, you could almost touch both walls by the side. There's not a lot of kids. And it just comes down to good old fashioned clinical acumen, and treating for the worst case scenario.
