The Essence of Unity
In what sense could each of the elements of essence be called one? Then that it is something unitary without being unity itself. For essence so far as it trends towards unity is a single essence. But in so faras it is posterior to unity it becomes all things it can be and becomes manifold. Unity therefore could not be considered one of the primary genera, for essence is no more one than it is manifold.
