The Value of Weird Fiction

The disciplined military formations of squid would seem to demonstrate a very sophisticated intelligence, and intelligence that's directed at us humans. So the question will be, what use would humans be to a squid civilization. How can humans be exploited by squid intelligence? And that's what our view of ourselves as the only dominant intelligent force on the planet. That's the kind of question that weird fiction can ask that other forms of literary inquiry really cannot venture into.
