By 18 70, the emperor was talking himself into a war with prussia. And he was quite confident of victory. The entire working premise of french preparations was that when hostilities broke out with prussia, that the rest of europe would join france in a grand anti prussian alliance. But napoleon did not realize that every single one of those calculations, everysingle one of them was wrong. In just a few months, the empire would be overthrown, and no one would mourn its passing.
