Timothy Stanley: I disliked this book so intensely that I have tried to come at this with what can I get out of it, putting aside for a moment my disagreements. The number the very first disagreement I ran into was just this issue because younger is trying to argue that the reason why settlers preferred to live with the Indians and vice versa is because they had the Indian culture at the time had this sense of communitarianism. It seems to me that younger takes this data as proof of his thesis when in fact it disproves his thesis.
