The Importance of Francis in the History of Legal Medicine
In 1931, Francis Glesner Lee offered to start a department of legal medicine at Harvard. She says it could be a factory for medical examiners who would rise to positions of power in communities across the country. In her will she also leaves more money to Harvard than any other person has ever done before. The department is finally up and running by 1938.
