The Herbivory of Large Megafauna

Up until 12,000 years ago a lot of the eastern united states was open savannah grassland not a closed canopy forest. After world war two anything that wasn't very productive arable cropland was essentially let go and reverted back to a less diverse less ecologically functional ecosystem state. Grasslands are the only ecosystem that create topsoil forest creating a humus layer which builds soil. They're actually growing at a fairly rapid pace relative to a forest and so realizing all this is what drove me into saying well's try to build a farm around them.
