The Effects of Dermal Calcium Loss on Bone Mineral Density
There have certainly been studies that have done serial measurements of bone in non-athletes of this age. So from the ages of 20 to 40, you wouldn't expect any remarkable changes in bone mineral density in men over a one year time span. The hypothesis was that dermal calcium loss during an exercise session would result in a decrease in the serum calcium level. If there is a decrease in serum calcium during exercise, we have to have a very robust counter regulatory mechanism to make sure that it doesn't decrease to harmful levels.
