The Evolution of Chess

There used to not be a queen in chess. And then when they did make it into a piece, it wasn't as powerful a piece as it is today. The queen became the most powerful piece around 1500 and it changed the game enormously because it was really hard to checkmate before. So speeding up the game, there was experimentations with different roles that one was to make the queen the most powerful pieces.
