If companies are still producing small, disposable plastic things, they just sit on shelves at stores. They're going to be thrown away at some point. If you stop the demand, then hopefully they'll stop the supply. The public is not aware of the depth of this problem. civilization doesn't know what a world without plastic would look like and how we would get there.
