The idea of the extra galvinistic hom anda has had a wide, far reaching influence on modern thought. The study of this doctrine kind of got off to a poor start in the twentieth century sense. But then because of luther's position, and being a guiding star, it just kind of fell in line and became o kno n identifier of the lutheran tradition. And that's part of an entire school of mid-20th century pitting calvinists as pitting against reformed theologians.
