The Procession of the Supreme Being

Robespierre was elected president of the convention, so that he could lead the official procession and give the major speeches. He had construction crews working round the clock building something out in the middle of the champ de mars. As it burned, a second statue hidden inside the first started to emerge. When the fire and smoke cleared, a great statue of wisdom was left standing in place of destroyed atheism.
