The Importance of Perception in Eskimo Life
In the visual system at the back of the head, there's all kinds of activity and that's what seeing is about. Only 5% of that activity actually comes from the eyes and all the rest is feedback activity. You can have full rich visual experience with your eyes closed, which is dreaming, which we do every night. So you don't even need your eyes at all. I think life seems longer when you're laying down more memories.
