Is There Something Inherent in Our Understanding of Mental Illnesses?

With a lot of mental illness, there's no pathology. The pathology is in the pattern of interconnections among the neurons. And we're not imaging at that level. So now that gets to the second issue of is there something inherent in our inherently limited in our understanding of these entities? We can't look at all psychiatric or psychological diagnoses and paint them all with the same brush.
