The SimCity Effect
The game is based on a Boroditsky study looking at language that people use around crime. The goal was to create different sort of mechanical incentives that would then lead to, oh, this is obviously a version of this game where enforcement is the right move. It's basically trying to take that one little interaction from a game like SimCity or like the board game pandemic and try to isolate it as much as possible.
