The Fair Report Privilege and the Neutral Reporting Privilege
The neutral report privilege bars recovery for defamation when the challenge statements, even if defamatory are newsworthy. Having my glovinati on your station would be protected under the neutral report privilege in a way that it would not be under the fair report privilege. The First Amendment does protect press separately from just speech so there must be some privilege that comes with the media.
