In August Joe Biden signed in the inflation reduction acts which is this massive historic bill that includes provisions on health care but also is the US's most significant piece of climate legislation ever to date. And as part of that what it includes is a sweeping array of tax credits which are the main sort of vector to which all of this subsidy spending is happening. So for example if an electric vehicle is being supported by these tax credits a given share of the battery materials and components that are in that electric vehicle have to be produced within North America or depending on free trade agreement with other countries. The subsidies aren't only to last over the next decade so through 2032 is a sort of phase-out date
