The Purgatory of a Monologue
When I started giving speeches many, many worlds ago, I wrote them and that was dull. And now I just give samples and that's best of all because I've discovered that whenever I'm on the other side of the podium I'm bored. So I have a theory that everybody endures the purgatory of having to listen to a monologue for a long time in order to get to the only interesting part which is like heaven. If you make a mathematical proportion between the number of people who teach philosophy in prestigious universities and the population, Boston is the most philosophical city in the world.
