The Evolution of Smell

The only thing we are programmed to really hate is the smell of dead bodies and that's a very primal sort of health and safety thing. But everything else I would say is on the spectrum. Over the course of history smells have kind of fallen in and out of favour, become more or less desirable because our understanding of smell is heavily dependent on context. We as children especially programming for sense for public spaces love those sort of more malodorous more fecal smells they're drawn to them.
