Inside the UK, there's a focus on another type of retirement system called Define Contribution Plans. These sorts of plans have become more common since FRS 17 accounting standards were implemented. One proposal is that they could be required to invest between 10 and 20% of their funds in growth equities and infrastructure. There isn't an easy fix here but I do know that policymakers are looking quite urgently at this because they can see that something's got to change.
