Tolkin's Soup Hat
Tolking says that it is precisely the differences, not the similarities, that make a work worth reading. He says we must be satisfied with the soup that is set before us and not desire to see the bones of the ox out of which it has been boiled. And then he goes on to say, i don't, of course, forbid criticism of the soup as soup. It makes me think, actually, of something. We don't want to know how the sausages are made. We just want the end results. Very, very much so.
