A Brief History of Japan - Kinotdayuki

Little is known about kinotdayuki. His mother was a dancing girl who was part of something called the nako bo, a type of seminary for dancing women. He may have been in the same circle as ariwara, which surrounded prince kore taka,. We just don't know for sure. Poetry has long been a fixture of japanese courtly life. But after that, there was a bit falling off of interest in japanese style poetry. Why? Well, because of a growing fad for kanshi poems styled after those of mainland china and written in classical chinese.
