The ONS Changed the Order of the Multiple Choice Responses
Census forms for 2011 and 2021 have different answers to the national identity question. The first option of the 2011 survey is English, while the 2021 survey has the first option as British. Timur wanted to know why the ONS had switched the order and whether there was a better way to do things. Ailsa Henderson says scale of changes we've seen in England are unlike what we've seen so far in Wales or Northern Ireland.
