The Rise and Fall of McCarthy
McCarthy's genesis as a writer came in a way that now feels almost completely alien. He sent early copies of the first book to Truman Capote and to Saul Bello. It was towards the end of Blood Meridian that Albert Erskine began to retire from his job as McCarthy's editor, but he'd been pushing for him consistently ever since the start of his career. In the UK, I believe they were out of print.
