Is There a Need for Edge Infrastructure?

Today's networks aren't good enough really to handle what we're talking about in the future. And there needs to be a huge amount of investment in edge infrastructure. I know a lot of operators have been making a big deal about the metaverse. But to me, it doesn't necessarily seem like a positive thing for them. It's more like a costumer than it is. They've got to pay for it, and they're not necessarily going to profit from it.
