Manny Machado's Clubhouse

Manny Machado signed an 11 year, $350 million deal with the Padres. There's speculation that he might exercise an opt out after this off seasons really rich for agent market. But I think maybe the years and the money and the leverage that the Padres had with the fact that Machado couldn't opt out until the off season. The Padres could have essentially asked Manny Machado to prove it for another season but they sacrificed some of their leverage by negotiating when they did. And so if you're going to commit to someone for a long time for 11 years, that's the kind of guy to do it with.
