Is There a Vacuum in the Middle East?
There's a presumption that us being there is a net positive, if not for US security, then collectively somehow. But the whole equation of vacuum is being filled by rivals kind of melts away when you notice that actually this kind of expansionist, interventionist military mindset doesn't improve US security or the state of the world. It's not a strategic asset. So if China moves into the Middle East, it won't be that good for China, just as it hasn't been very good for us.
