Is There a Risk Paradigm in Suicide Prevention?

Suicide prevention in the mainstream is very much rooted in a risk paradigm. It scripts young people as bundles of risk factors that need to be acted upon you know by another so they become kind of like these objects to be acting upon or intervened upon. I think it risks the very possibility of creating a relational connection where you could have an honest open conversation about what's leading someone to feel like they don't want to live anymore.
