The Effects of Separation on Infants
John Bobi was a psychoanalyst who researched the effects of separation between infants and their parents. He hypothesized that extreme behaviors infants engage in to avoid separation from a parent or when reconnecting physically with a separated parent like crying, screaming, and clinging were evolutionary mechanisms. And he thought John Bobi thought these behaviors had possibly been reinforced through the natural selection and the enhanced the child's chances of survival.
