The Evolution of the Monarch Sequestration

The sequestration seems to be most targeted at vertebrate predators. There's some evidence for lizards and birds, but I don't know if there's ever been a link between the coloration and predation. And certainly by the time monarch butterflies are migrating back to Texas, we frequently see bird peck marks on their wingsbut they're still making it back to Texas.
