On February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt ordered all Japanese Americans on the West Coast to be summarily rounded up and imprisoned in 10 prison camps. "For my parents, it was a degrading, humiliating, painful experience taking their young children into that horse stall," she says. She recalls being put on a train with her family for two days before they were taken to an Arkansas prison camp parallel to the railroad track.
