The Spectre of Revolt in the Lutus

Aldo Chivone wrote a beautiful book called Spartacus, where he really helped us understand what was going on in the Lutus. The whole infrastructure of the tunnels were an announcement that the system was haunted by the specter of revolt. I mean, every caution was taken to prevent Spartacus from rising up, even before they knew that he might. So it's a sophistication that Foucault studied. It's because those who hold the prisoners captive worry about revolt. And so they want you to think that at any moment, you can be watched and put down.
