The Castrado Straddles the Zone Between Animality and Humanity
The castrado straddles that liminal zone between animality and humanity in the same way that he straddles the zone between the old regime and the new order. He's a eunuch that's re territorializd in a modern context governed by money, because the italian states were very mercantile. And so he's like a rock star who's able to get really, really rich while affirming and maintaining an old system of absolutest divine right of kings. The castration is a sin. It's not supposed to be done, but it's necessary in order to generate the saintliness of the voice itself.
